Ethical Hacking Bootcamp — Lagos
The Challenge
Following a series of phishing incidents across Nigerian financial institutions in Q1 2024, a Lagos-based financial services firm engaged Corespec to upskill their security team with offensive security knowledge. The goal: train 15 staff to think and act like attackers in order to identify and close vulnerabilities before they could be exploited.
Programme Structure
- Week 1–2: Network security fundamentals and attack surface mapping
- Week 3–4: Penetration testing methodology, enumeration, and exploitation
- Week 5–6: Web application attacks (OWASP Top 10), SQL injection, XSS
- Week 7: Social engineering and phishing simulation
- Week 8: CEH exam preparation and mock testing
Lab Environment
Each participant worked inside Corespec's isolated virtual lab — a deliberately vulnerable network designed to mirror a real corporate environment. Participants conducted controlled attacks on the lab infrastructure, documented findings in professional penetration test reports, and presented remediation recommendations.
The Result
All 15 participants passed their CEH examination on first attempt. The client subsequently engaged Corespec to conduct a full penetration test of their production infrastructure. Two vulnerabilities of critical severity were identified and patched before any external exposure.
Client Statement
"The quality of what our team learned in 8 weeks was remarkable. They came out thinking differently — not just as defenders but as people who understand how attackers think. That shift in mindset is the biggest security upgrade we've made."
